Hi! I’m Elyce – co-founder of The Mortgage Girls, proud mum to the delightful Mackenzie, and bonus mum to two awesome kids, Maggie and Marko. Our youngest is little Tyla, who keeps us all on our toes! Once upon a time, we had four under four – yep, total mayhem – and while they’re getting older now, life is still very much wild and wonderful.
Holly and I founded The Mortgage Girls in 2015 because we genuinely wanted to help people. We knew we could build a business that made a real impact – one that helped Kiwis achieve their financial dreams while giving women the flexibility to have a great career and a fulfilling home life.
My own path into property wasn’t straightforward. I bought my first home at 27, and even managed to buy two in the same year – but I also got turned down by the banks. Twice. So I completely understand how frustrating the finance world can be. What the banks didn’t count on was my persistence, tenacity, and love for solving the “too-hard” stuff. Now I help people all over New Zealand secure finance – people just like me, who were told “no” when they really needed a “how”.
I absolutely love what I do. I’m straight up, honest, and if the banks need a nudge (or a shove), I’m not afraid to speak up for my clients. As my grandma says, “Elyce calls a spade a spade,” and that’s how I work with every client – real advice, no fluff.
Since launching The Mortgage Girls, we’ve picked up some pretty awesome awards – like Regional Mortgage Broker of the Year, Excellence in Customer Service, and a nomination for Young Gun of the Year. But honestly, it’s the wins we get for our clients that mean the most.
Starting a business and growing a family at the same time is wild – but it’s shown me how incredible our team really is, and how much we care about the people we help. My clients become part of The Mortgage Girls whānau, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
When I’m not mortgage-deep, I love anything with a bit of adrenaline – motocross, downhill biking, snowboarding, and horse riding back at the family farm. Those passions are on hold for now while the kids are little, but I can’t wait to share those adventures with them soon.
My mission? To keep helping everyday Kiwis make smart, empowered financial decisions – whether that’s buying their first home, investing, refinancing, or smashing out debt – and to keep creating a space where women can build a business and a beautiful life.
Let’s make your goals happen.
